Dominique Bondy, born in Zurich in 1946, has created an extensive artistic oeuvre since her childhood and later alongside her studies in Comparative Literature and Romance Studies and her training and work as a psychoanalyst: Ink drawings, paintings close to Art brut, surrealist collages. Her works were shown in several gallery exhibitions in Zurich in the 1980s and 1990s. A book about Bondy’s art is now being published for the first time.
The volume illustrates what Bondy’s artistic work is all about: returning to herself in the footsteps of her own life. The reproductions of the pictures and collages are accompanied by Bondy’s own poems, which she writes in French, English and German and some of which were created especially for this book. The texts are written by the writer Iso Camartin and the art historian Marianne Karabelnik, as well as by Dominique Bondy herself, who reflects on her biography and her art.
Dominique Bondy, 1946 in Zürich geboren, hat seit ihrer Kindheit und später auch neben ihrem Studium in Komparatistik und Romanistik und ihrer Ausbildung und Tätigkeit als Psychoanalytikerin ein umfangreiches künstlerisches Œuvre geschaffen: Tuschzeichnungen, der Art brut nahestehende Gemälde, surrealistische Collagen. Ihre Werke wurden in den 1980er- und 1990er-Jahren in mehreren Galerieausstellungen in Zürich gezeigt. Nun erscheint erstmals ein Buch über Bondys Kunst.
Der Band verdeutlicht, worum es Bondy in ihrem künstlerischen Schaffen geht: auf den Fussspuren des eigenen Lebens zu sich zurückkehren. Die Reproduktionen der Bilder und Collagen werden begleitet von eigenen Gedichten Bondys, die sie in Französisch, Englisch und Deutsch schreibt und von denen einige eigens für dieses Buch entstanden sind. Die Textbeiträge stammen vom Schriftsteller Iso Camartin und der Kunsthistorikerin Marianne Karabelnik sowie von Dominique Bondy selbst, die darin ihre Biografie und ihre Kunst reflektiert.
